We have added the route followed by Mr Isbrants, Ambassador of Muscovy, in crossing Russia and Tartary to get to China. And some remarks against Messrs Chardin & Kempfer. Impressive work by the quantity and quality of the engravings, which illustrate a seven-year journey and cover all the facets of it: views of the main cities, including folding panoramas of the cities of Isfahan and Moscow measuring nearly 2 meters, views of Astrakhan, Samachi...; Samoyed peoples, Russians, Persians, Armenians...; animals, fishes, plants (among which "extraordinary turnips"); numerous views of Persepolis with details of the ornaments, figures of the staircases, etc. and portraits of personalities such as King Hossen of Persia and the King of Bantam to whom the author was granted an audience. A very fine copy in an excellent edition and of great internal freshness. A few discreet restorations to the headpieces.
