CARMEN MARÍA MARTÍNEZ (Almería, 1962).

CARMEN MARÍA MARTÍNEZ (Almería, 1962). Untitled Watercolor on paper. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Size: 72 x 53 cm; 105 x 85,5 cm (frame). Floral composition, in which the artist defines all the space, through the leaves and the fruit of the same, thus occupying the entire composition. The scene is dominated by the subtlety of color, as the artist plays with a wide chromatic range where the gradation has a fundamental presence for the conception of this floral scene. Carmen María Martínez began her academic training in 1980, studying Art and Decoration at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts of Almería. In 1989 she made the first exhibition of her work, achieving with it the recognition of the critics. It was from this moment on, when he began his exhibition career, participating in more than twenty exhibitions. Her work is defined by her meticulous research in watercolor, a technique to which her husband, also dedicated to the art world, introduced her. Regarding the subject matter, still lifes are the protagonists of her scenes, eliminating the human figure from the space, and focusing her attention on different elements such as, for example, furniture, toys, or flowers.
