Description

Jean DUPAS (1882 - 1964) Seaside Oil on canvas signed lower right 50 x 72.5 cm faded. Jean Dupas is a painter and decorator representative of the art deco born in Bordeaux in 1882 and died in 1964. Grand Prix de Rome, we owe him monumental decorations such as the one realized with Alfred Janniot and Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann for the liners Île-de-France and Liberté alongside. He also realized a painting of four hundred square meters for the liner Normandie in 1935. He was also responsible for an important decoration in 1936 for the labour exchange in Bordeaux. In 1940, he was appointed curator of the Musée Marmottan. Our painting is a synthesis of Jean DUPAS's work by its luminous, vibrant but also synthetic aspect, perfectly in line with the Art-Deco period.
