Savoy Victor Emmanuel II (1861-1878) 10 Cents 1862 Experiment - Luppino PP88 CU RRR According to the relevant literature (Cagiati), this 10-cent bronze issue would constitute an experiment for a new currency, coined presumably in the Naples mint in 1862 as a result of the special coeval economic needs, relating to the loose currency circulation in the southern provinces, caused by the adoption of the decimal system. it would have been put into circulation, perhaps 20,000 pieces, later almost all withdrawn, to conduct a survey as to its actual usefulness. This initiative may have helped pave the way for the later establishment of the bronze, legal tender, 10-cent coin, which, up to that point, had been opposed by both the Monetary Commission and Parliament. The very few remaining coins have almost all circulated, generally being in MB or BB condition. The one proposed by us, on the other hand, is in an exceptional state of preservation and comes from the Varesi 55 auction, Demicheli Collection April 8 and 9, 2010, lot number 381, and former Rocca collection - FDC

Paper money. CARTAMONETA. Tickets of the Cassa di Sconto of Florence 1817 Complete series of 5 tickets in fior di stampa that never appeared until 2004; The lot consists of: 1 ticket of 100 Lire, 1 of 200 Lire, 1 of 300 Lire, 1 of 500 Lire and 1 of 1,000 Lire as a maximum value. The pieces are printed from one side only, on the die the watermark highlights the words "discount box" in lower case; on the ticket a continuous wavy border is highlighted in watermark and across the top. In the center of the ticket an oval surmounted by the fleur-de-lis coat of arms, internally inscribed " discount box ticket of lire 100 (or value of the ticket ). On the edges, on the upper left side stand out the letters ACDS ( administration discount box ) , on the lower right CDS discount box . On the lower left side is engraved lion with lily , upper right caduceus with cornucopia . Reference: Gavello volume no. 1 ancient paper money , p. 190. Grand Duke Ferdinand III established the foundation for the issue with -MOTUPROPRIO- of Dec. 31, 1816 , with capital of 120,000 Florentine scudi. The banking institution issued the first Series of tickets in 1817, withdrawn and destroyed all the tickets after a few months due to the quality of the paper (very thick and counterfeitable), another type of paper with higher security features and watermark was used, still maintaining the same size, facial and nominal graphics. Savoy Victor Emmanuel II (1861-1878) 50 cents 1861 T - Nomisma 920 AG RRR Run of only 4,910 specimens largely later withdrawn and remelted having the alloy still at 900 thousandths then reduced to 835 to compensate for the expense of minting these divisional denominations. Slight indentation at edge, but superb quality specimen for this extremely rare to find thousandth. Specimen among the best that has appeared, inferior only to the one recently sold at auction Nac 129 of 2021, with a realization of 32000 euro+ fees. In Nomisma auction 66 of 2022, lot 1247, a slightly inferior specimen, but still in similar quality, realized 27000 euro + fees. - M.of SPL
