A FRENCH SILVER-GILT SMALL COFFEE POT, MID 19TH CENTURY, possibly by Désiré Thorel (fils), Paris, (maker's mark 'DT'), baluster form, the hinged cover with bud finial, engraved all-over with fine scrolling foliage and flowers, large cartouche to each side, both engraved with monogram, raised on a shallow circular foot; together with A FRENCH SILVER-GILT CUP AND SAUCER, MID 19TH CENTURY, with scrolling foliate, flower and shell engraving, the cartouche to each engraved with monogram, the cup cast with foliate thumbpiece and egg detailing to loop handle. (3) Coffee pot 11.8cm high, cup 6.9cm high to top of thumbpiece, 14.6 troy ounces gross12018072Coffee pot: Marks clear and well struck - Minerva 1 (950/1000) and maker's mark to base, further struck with both marks to cover (maker's mark illegible here) and with Minerva to foot. Cover hinge slightly loose but sturdy. Stands upright, minor wobble to foot. Very small ding to upper left side in foliate engraving above cartouche. Light surface marks and scratches commensurate with age and use Cup & saucer: Each with Minerva 1 mark for 950/1000, cup stamped once on rim, saucer twice - underside of rim, and foot.
