Mauser "Zick-Zack" ("Zig-Zag") system revolver, patents of 1878, 6-shot, 9 mm calibre Round rifled barrel, with full band, marked on the top "GEBR. MAUSER & Cie OBERNDORE a / N WURTTEMBERG 1878 PATENT. Closed frame steel carcass. Collective extractor, rotation of the barrel ensured by the vertical displacement of a bar, which comes in contact with the rocks. Plates of stick out of squared blackened wooden. Length: 26,5 cm B.E. polished finish. Manufactured from 1878 to 1896, date on which it is replaced by the C-96. The Mauser C-78 revolver nicknamed "Zig Zag" after the design of the cylinder grooves. It is the first handgun produced by the Mauser firm. It is a model known as "with crack", chambered in 7 mm in its civil version and 9 mm in its military version.
