[BUSSY RABUTIN]. History of the Royal Palace. In French, manuscript on paper. France, early 18th century. 83 pp. and (4)ff. Bound in brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt fleurons, chiselled edges (spines, headpieces and corners rubbed, tarnished edges). Interesting manuscript on the affair of Louis XIV with the most touching of his mistresses. A more or less faithful copy of the "Palais royal ou Amours de Madame La Vallière" from the Amours des Dames illustres by Bussy Rabutin first published in 1667, followed by two leaves entitled "Jalousie de la Reyne sur l'amour du Roy et de Mademoiselle de La Valière" . The last two leaves are additions to pages 37 and 38 of the text. Armorial bookplate "De Soquence" (the Grouchet de Soquence family, originally from Normandy, was ennobled in 1470).
