Collection of 79 captioned pencil drawings on paper, various sizes. Edouard Mennessier (1811-1888) was the brother-in-law of Marie Mennessier-Nodier (1811-1893), daughter of Charles Nodier . A cartoonist active in Metz and Nancy, he delivers here his most scatological series. There is also an engraving signed Gavarny (Paul Gavarni (1804-1866), a caricaturist active in Paris and close to Nodier: this engraving is published in Balzac, Les Français peints par eux-mêmes (1853)) which refers to the model of his character "Boc" a certain "Charles Lallemand".
