Japan, 19th century Beautiful sculpture representing the Buddha Jizo Bosatsu (Ksitigharba in Sanskrit) in the role of an itinerant monk. In the Kamakura style of the 12th/13th century, he is depicted standing, holding in his right hand a stick with six sound rings announcing his coming. He is depicted standing on a base carved with a double row of lotus petals resting on rocks. Old traces of lacquer H. 65 x W. 30 x D. 17 cm Worn and slightly missing
