INDO-PORTUGUESE CABINET. Wood and wood marquetry, engraved ivory and inlaid with black paste. This elegant cabinet presents a typical decoration of the Moghol repertoire, with a large place for flowers. It opens with a flap revealing six drawers. The exterior decoration alternates large central bouquets framed by floral friezes. The drawers present alternating flowers, and a bouquet on the central drawer. This type of furniture was often made at the request of European merchants (accidents, wear and tear, small old restorations on some inlays). India, 17th century.
