IZNIK DISH WITH EWER. Siliceous paste painted in polychrome under a transparent colourless glaze. Decorated with a central ewer surrounded by a flowering branch. The rim decorated with waves and rocks of Chinese inspiration. Old collection label on the back. Turkey, Iznik, circa 1600. D_26 cm This type of decoration was in vogue at the end of the 16th - beginning of the 17th century. They were mainly intended for export. A piece with a very similar decoration to the red coffee pot is published in: Hitzel F. & Jacotin M.
