IMPORTANT MANUSCRIBER JOURNAL of more than 700 pages spanning 44 years (1801-1845). The first two quires and the first half of quire 3 concern the 1st Empire. Colonel Jean-Jacques Philippe BOYER (Castelnaudary, 1784-1857, Toulouse) joined the 4th Line Infantry Brigade at the age of 16 on September 23, 1801 with the rank of rifleman and left it with the rank of adjutant-major on May 14, 1810. On 16 May 1812 he joined the staff of General d'Hénin and then that of General Boyeldieu, and on 13 June 1813 he joined the 29th light infantry regiment. Taken prisoner of war on 15/11/1813, he returned to France on 11 June 1814. He was appointed chief of battalion and aide-de-camp to General Frère's staff on 4 October 1814. Placed on leave of absence on the 11th December 1814, he was recalled to the gendarmerie as squadron leader in September 1830. His military career will end in January 1845 at the 13th legion of Toulouse with the rank of colonel. Attached is a photocopied copy of the entire manuscript diary as well as photocopies of official documents, most of which were issued by the Ministry of War, in particular Mr. Boyer's service record. INTERESTING historical and military DOCUMENT, full of anecdotes and various reflections, by one of the witnesses and actors of the Napoleonic epic.
