BELLEGARDE (Abbot of). THE OFFICE OF THE HOLY WEEK, for the use of the King's Household. Paris, Collombat, 1748. In-8 red morocco, boards decorated with a gilt roulette frame with fleur-de-lys, arms stamped in gold in the centre, spine decorated with gilt fleurs-de-lys, gilt edges, inner border (period binding). Upper headband frayed, lower headband missing, beginning of split at the jaws, corners worn, spine rubbed with tears, stains to the binding. E.A.S. dated March 1919 on the first blank page: "To his dear little friend Henri Chepfer []". ILLUSTRATED EDITION: engraved frontispiece and title, 4 plates by Humblot engraved by Scotin. Copy under the arms of LOUIS XVI (1754-1793), king of France. ¶ OHR, 2496, iron 4.
