The project was conceived in 1899, at the Horticultural Congress in Lyon, in order to alleviate the difficulty of describing the different shades of Chrisanthemums. From this work, partly based on Chevreul's, was born this "nuancier" where more than 1000 shades are reproduced on 365 plates with, for each of them, the French, German, English, Spanish and Italian names, as well as the names of the plants where they are found. Two covers for the comparison of the shades are included. Binding rubbed, faded, several leaves unbound, some damaged in the outer margin.
