Brunet, II-1216 /// I. (2f.)-XXIV-367 / II. (2f.)-359. A portrait and 24 figures out of text by Moreau le jeune engraved on copper by De Ghendt, Girardet and Simonet. The figures are here before the letter and two of them are before the signatures. Corners and edges a little rubbed, some foxing to one plate. Attached : Jean de LA BRUYÈRE. The Characters, followed by the Characters of Theophrastus, translated from Greek by the same author. Paris, Lefèvre, 1818. 2 volumes in-8, blond calf, boards decorated with a diamond-shaped set of black fillets and a gilt roulette, spine with 5 nerves richly decorated, inner roulette, gilt edges (Simier R. du Roi). One portrait-frontispiece engraved on steel by Leroux. Boards rubbed with loss of decoration, some freckling.
