Adoration of the Child Flanders, c. 1650 The Holy Family with three adoring angels in front of palace architecture with ox and donkey. Tortoiseshell relief with small crack. Tortoiseshell frame, slightly dam. Mounted on wooden panel. BA 14 x 10,7 cm. On the back adhesive label "The Nativity. Superb Carving on Tortoiseshell in Tortoiseshell frame bought at the sale of the collection of Works of Art of the Queen of Naples by Joseph Marcyat (?) Esq. carved by Benvenuto Cellini." Probably after a graphic design by Johannes Sadeler the Elder, which in turn goes back to a design by Marten de Vos and was also realized as a bronze or silver relief. Cf.
