Beautiful yellow gold (750) savonnette pocket watch. Front cover with chased decoration of a foliate figure. White enamelled dial, with black hour markers, Roman numerals for the hours, and Arabic numerals and scale for the minutes. Second hand movement at 6 o'clock. Mechanical hand-wound movement, unsigned. Back cover with plain back, engraved inside "18 May 1898" and numbered 34247. Dust cover signed Breguet and numbered 3199. Made in 1898. Gross weight: 96.6 g. - Diameter: 50 mm. A few scratches from use on the case. In a burgundy morocco Breguet case, numbered 3199 and numbered A.J. Scratches and scuffs. We would like to thank Montres BREGUET SA and Mrs Seyena AHONYO, its archivist, for having researched this watch in their old sales books, where it is described as follows: "Simple watch with 19-line winding mechanism, gold case, half-bassin, enamel dial, gold hands, second hand, gold bowl. Anchor escapement, compensating balance, ruby holes and lifts. Made in 1898." "Sold on April 28, 1898 to [Monsieur] Joliot for the sum of 500 francs." The date of May 18, 1898, engraved on the inside of the lid, and the figure A.J., stamped on the lid of the case, confirm the indications in these books.
