Provenance: Acquired from the artist in the years 1924 by Noé Ramishvili Kept in Paris until the 1990s by Nutsa Ramishvili. who passed it on to her Georgian family. Acquired from them by the present owner. Exhibition : A very similar work was exhibited at Galerie Trétiakov in 2009. It is a version of 1923, oil on canvas, which takes our painting and comes from the collection of Ivita and Tamaz Manasherov. The work has been certified by Eteri Shavgulitzé A certificate of authenticity from Mrs. Irene Dzutséva will be given to the buyer. Preserved in its original frame with vine motifs, this Dinner on the Grass is a precious testimony of Gudashvili's Parisian period, when he frequented La Ruche and the artistic world of the capital. Although he frequented Goncharova, Larionov and Modigliani, it was above all his native Georgia and the work of Pirosmani that influenced his creations, marked by Caucasian folklore where Byzantine influences meet the curves of Persian miniature. This Country Dinner evokes the fundamental themes of the joyful and melancholic culture of the Caucasus: with wine, the fruits of the earth and love, symbolized by the woman. In the midst of this cheerful, agrarian meal, a sadness emerges that distantly evokes the verses of Rustaveli.
