Ernst Barlach, 1870 Wedel – 1938 Rostock
Porcelain, white glazed. Russian lovers. Marked by "E. Barlach" under the glaze on the plinth and a printed mark of the Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst and model number "U9 AB" on the bottom. A couple sitting facing each other on an oval stand in relief. The man is playing the bandura, the woman is listening to him. The couple can be seen both as a unit and as individual figures. This work was created after a trip to Russia and the resulting encounters with the Russian peasantry. Model from 1908/09. Cracks on the back, otherwise in good condition.
