Top secretary. North German. Late 18th century. Oak, brass, cast and polished. Three-part high rectangular construction with bevelled side edges on sawn feet, composed of base cabinet, middle corpus and top. The base is slightly curved and has three compartments. The middle section with a fold-out writing tablet. The central shelf with three compartments, each flanked by three staggered drawers with original, single turn locks. The writing tablet is covered with green felt. The top with two doors, each with four panels, a sprung pediment, original mortise-and-tenon hinges. One door as a service door with face bars. The interior with three shelves and a glass holder. The drawers with two handles each, drawers, writing flap and doors with curved brass fittings, keys present. The front with drying cracks. Doors with glued-on joints. Drawer bottoms glued out, furnishings with alterations. Back panel without drawer with additions. Back panel partially supplemented. Door lock replaced, spring of one face plate defective. Fittings supplemented. Dimensions: h. 238 cm, w. 113,5 cm, d. 60 cm.
