Heidi Manthey 1929 Leipzig Hedwig Bollhagen1907 Hannover - 2001 Marwitz near Berlin Faience, light-coloured body, white glazed and painted with polychrome underglaze. The lower part decorated with a willow basket and various meadow flowers, the removable lid with filigree feather decoration and a leaf tendril around the hen's head. The underside with the brush mark "HB" and the artist's signature. The lower bowl in the area of one wing probably restored by the artist's hand with gold staggered putty. Glaze crazed. Dimensions: h. 18,5 cm, w. 20 cm, d. 13,5 cm. Heidi Manthey 1929 Leipzig 1946-49 Studied painting and graphics in Leipzig with Walther Münze and Max Schwimmer. 1949-52 studied ceramics in Halle/Burg Giebichenstein. After 1956 collaboration with Hedwig Bollhagen in Marwitz. Lectureships at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee from 1975-80 and at Burg Giebichenstein from 1980-97.
