After his return he started his own business and soon found a loyal patron in Ernst II, Duke of Saxe-Coburg, whom he accompanied on numerous hunts, among others also in Upper Bavaria and Tyrol. In his numerous oil paintings, watercolors and drawings those nature experiences from German forests with their huntable animals from all seasons are impressively reproduced.
