Samuel Gränicher before 1758 Zofingen - 1813 Dresden Samuel Gränicher was a Swiss painter and copper engraver.He was trained in Basel by Christian von Mechel as a draughtsman and engraver. From 1778 he worked as an engraver for Mechel's publishing house and later he worked for Johann Caspar Lavater. Around 1970 he moved to Dresden and attended the academy of arts in painting with Georg Kaspar Nagler by Giovanni Battista Casanova. Later he worked as an animal and landscape painter.
