In Palermo instructed by the military architect and mathematician Carlo Maria Ventimiglia.Then to Rome, where he was a pupil of Pietro del Pò at the Accademia di San Luca and of Pietro Novell as painter and etcher. Stay in Naples follows, then to Rome to become a priest and there studies with Carlo Maratta. Important works are "Bibbia di Raffaello", after Raphael's decoration in the loggias of the Vatican, two series of etchings after Annibale Carracci's frescoes in Palazzo Farnese in Rome. Towards the end of his life he returned to Palermo, where he worked mainly as a painter of large-format pictures with religious themes and, from 1690, as an assistant to the architect Giacomo Amato.
