Framed in a wide, profiled, light brown and grey wooden frame. Unsigned. Verso on the picture support and frame u.r. with the estate stamp. Verso numbered "64" in fibre pen on o. frame moulding on a textile adhesive tape. Corner of the hardboard at lower left with loss of material as well as corner at upper left somewhat frayed. Small paint layer flaws in the fold area. Pastosities visible underneath the layers of paint, probably from a first, discarded painting (inherent in the work). Dimensions: 60.2 x 80.3 cm, overall 75.7 x 95.5 cm. Erhard Hippold 1909 Wilkau - 1972 Bad Gottleuba Apprenticeship as porcelain painter. 1928-31 pupil of the Dresden School of Arts and Crafts under Carl Rade, until 1933 studies at the Dresden Academy of Arts under Ferdinand Dorsch, master pupil under Max Feldbauer. In this year he had to leave the academy for political reasons. Married to the Dix student Gussy Ahnert. From 1945 he lived with her as a freelance artist in Radebeul. Friendship with the painter Carl Lohse, with whom he spent several study visits at the Baltic Sea. Since 1950 more intensive occupation with graphics, especially etchings and lithographs.
