First artistic training at the adult education centre in Zwickau with Carl Michel and Klaus Matthäi. 1966-1971 studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig with Wolfgang Mattheuer and others. Afterwards freelance work, from 1992 teaching at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig in the subjects painting technique, perspective and nature study. Married to the painter Christine Ebersbach (* 1954). Brother of the painter Hartwig Ebersbach. Lives and works in Leipzig and Wurzen.
