Painting and Drawing Supplies, C 25, Alexanderplatz". Framed in a gold-coloured, neoclassical wooden frame . Painting board slightly curved, browned in unpainted areas by binder.Deformation with small compression in the painting cardboard at the left margin. Numerous small, partly very tiny chipping of the painting layer as well as isolated loosenings at pastosities on the entire picture surface. Varying surface gloss. Known as picture chronicler Alfred Hanf devoted himself as painter, draughtsman and illustrator especially to his hometown Erfurt. 1908-10 training at school of arts and crafts in Erfurt, 1910-12 training as drawing teacher at the State School of Art Berlin as well as 1912/13 studies with Carl Bantzer at the Royal Academy of Arts in Dresden.From 1914 he teaches at various educational institutions in Erfurt and briefly in Eberswalde. During the First World War he was a front-line soldier. Founding member of the artists' group "Jung-Erfurt", in which Hanf briefly turned to Expressionism. After 1924 travels to Italy and through Germany as well as from 1926 to Spain, Southern France, Switzerland and again to Italy. During his teaching activities several times in between as a freelance painter and graphic artist.
