Bernhard Buttersack 1858 Liebenzell - 1925 Icking From 1861 living in Stuttgart, there first studying architecture, then 1877-81 studying painting at the Royal Art School Stuttgart with Jakob Grünewald, Karl Julius Emil Ludwig and Albert Kappis; from 1879 with Friedrich von Keller. 1884-89 works as a painter in Munich. Appointment as royal professor by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria. 1892 founding member of the Munich Secession. From 1889 lives in Oberschleißheim, from 1893 in Haimhausen, where he founds a private school of painting, founder of the artists' colony Haimhausen. 1914 Moves to Icking.
