Superficially soiled. Canvas with slight climatic edge and inconspicuous deformation upper right. The canvas at lower and upper stretching edge and slightly reaching into the picture surface, each cut in two places (ca. 2.8 cm), not visible in framed condition. Canvas slightly stained on verso. Fritz Beckert 1877 Leipzig - 1962 Dresden German architectural painter and university teacher at the Technical University of Dresden. 1894-96 attended the art academies in Leipzig and 1896-99 Dresden as a pupil of Friedrich Preller the Younger and Gotthardt Kuehl. Study trips to Thuringia, Franconia, Austria and Italy. 1902 founds the artists' group "Die Elbier", later the Dresden Secession. From 1908 private lecturer for architectural painting at the Technical University Dresden, from 1921 associate professor and 1925-45 full professor. 1945 Loss of the studio and most of his work.
