Painting layer with early shrinkage as well as age craquelure, more obvious in the right half of the picture in the darker areas (below the bird as well as at the top right) Slight climatic edge as well as pressure marks caused by the framing. Several small retouchings. Two patches backed on verso. Dimensions: 79 x 95,5 cm, overall 82 x 98,5 cm. Ernst Ludwig Plaß 1855 Sterley - 1917 Lübeck Ernst Ludwig Plaß was a German landscape and marine painter. 1879-82 Studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy as a pupil of Peter Janssen the Elder, Hugo Crola and Heinrich Lauenstein as well as at the Grand Ducal Baden Art School in Karlsruhe. 1885 stays in the artists' colony Ekensund. Travels to Italy and the Tyrolean Alps. From 1893 active in Munich, from 1906 resident in Kempfenhausen on Lake Starnberg and from 1916 living in Lübeck.
