A part Japanese armour, laquered iron and silk, comprising: cuirass (do) formed of curved horizontal plates with scalloped edges, joined by vertical lacing (sugaki odoshi); six tassets (kusazuri) suspended by continuous lacing from the do (one detached); a bevor (menpo) with detachable nose piece; a near pair of sleeves (kote), square pattern mail (kusari) with links of one turn, incorporating small shaped and ribbed plates at intervals, backed with fabric and terminating in semi-gauntlets (tetsu-gai); and a further square panel of mail and plate, slightly domed rectangular plates joined in rows by mail with links of two turns, backed with fabric.
