Bound in red morocco with the arms of the Dukes of Aiguillon. Spine decorated with flowers and remains of the title with iron "MEMOIRE (...) DU ROY (...) ET DE REVU" . Lining in burgundy moire later. 38 x 25 cmEighteenth century . Emmanuel Armand de Vignerot du Plessis de Richelieu, duc d' AiguillonFrench statesman (Paris 1720-Paris 1788), great-nephew of the cardinal of Richelieu . Commander-in-chief in Brittany (1753), he was accused of arbitrary acts by the parliament of Rennes and his attorney general La Chalotais (1765), then by the parliament of Paris. In 1768, he had to resign his office. But in 1770 the proceedings against him were annulled by Louis XV. Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (1771) and War (1774), he was disgraced by Louis XVI (1774).
