Rara scatola porta tè Meissen, 1726-1730 circa ,

Porcelain. Mark: swords in blue and number "77." in gold; cross with 4 dots engraved for the modeler Andreas Schiefer. Dimensions: total height 12 cm; 7.6 x 5 cm. Conservation: slight wear to the gold; lid not relevant with gilded metal mount From the rectangular section with smooth walls is decorated with chinoiserie in the manner of Johann Gregorius Höroldt, those on the reverse and on the recto framed by polychrome reserves in "Laub- und Bandelwrk" (i.e. "with leaves and ribbons"). On the shoulder, port scenes in monochrome purple-red, the edges are striped in gold A similar tea caddy can be found, for example, in Jacksonville (Florida), The Cummer Gallery of Art (see The Wark Collection, Early Meissen Porcelain, 1984, no. 139).
