Versatoio Italia centrale, probabilmente seconda metà del XVI secolo , Majolica …
Description

Versatoio Italia centrale, probabilmente seconda metà del XVI secolo ,

Majolica decorated with fire colours. Height cm 34,3. Conservation: felting at the base of the handle; minimal chipping at the edges; some insignificant felting to the glaze. Pourer on high foot with spool-shaped body, moulded, with triangular motifs, truncated cone neck, mouth with thin poly-lobed rim, and high loop. Coated with rich stanniferous enamel and decorated, on the front, with a small stylised column painted in polychrome. Absolutely unusual shape of notable plastic elegance, derived from some formulas of the modelling of the "white Faentines". The heraldic insignia leads one to hypothesize that it is a washbasin bowl for a Lazio nobleman's trousseau.
