Kukhuri, India or Nepal, 19th centuryRare kukhuri (kukri) consisting of a forged steel blade, curved with flat back and steel handle. Both parts are decorated with numerous land and sea animals which are acid-etched and inlaid with gold koftgari. Length : 51,5 cm. Missing the scabbard. This is the emblematic weapon of the British but also Indian army units recruited in Nepal and called Gurkhas, renowned for their bravery, their ferocity and their loyalty.
