A baoyueping (or bianhu) porcelain gourd vase in the famille rose style, China, 19th centuryDecorated with a central medallion showing a couple on a garden terrace on one side and two scholars seated in front of a pavilion, a servant beside them holding a painting. The medallions are framed by two dragons facing each other among flowers and plants and the shoulders show a shou sign, a bat and stylized flowers. The neck is decorated with flowers and flanked by two handles in the shape of an elephant's head enamelled with coral. Apocryphal Qianlong sigillary mark with four characters in iron red on the base.
