A Baragon Tumed famille rose porcelain bowl, China, 19th century, Daoguang period (1821-1850 )Decorated at the top and bottom with a frieze of famille rose enamels depicting the eight Buddhist emblems, each alternating with a shou character. Under the upper frieze are lion masks with tasselled garlands. Between each mask, in the centre of the bowl, alternate representations of bodhisattvas in leaf-shaped panels supported on flowering lotuses above stylized waves and rocks. The interior of the bowl as well as the heel are glazed in turquoise blue. In the center of the heel, the mark in red over glaze on a white background "Baragon Tumed" inscribed in Mongolian within a double square. The rim of the bowl is ringed with copper. Height: 11 cm; diameter: 23.5 cmThis large bowl in the Baragon Tumed style is inspired by the service created in 1842 during the Daoguang reign for the marriage of one of his daughters to a Mongolian Tumed prince .
