A large xiangtuiping vase in moulded, incised and blue enamelled white porcelain, China, Kangxi period (1662-1722). The white cover of the body is moulded and incised with a decoration of peony flowers, foliage, Noh dogs and chilong and enamelled in blue underglaze with numerous panels and friezes. Six large four-lobed cartouches decorate the central part, two with a four-clawed dragon and a phoenix in pursuit of the flaming pearl, two with a decoration of furniture and precious objects, and two with a decoration of pavilions and characters, some playing go, in lakeside landscapes. The lower part has three friezes. The upper frieze shows pomegranate-shaped cartouches decorated with phoenixes and hearts adorned with sacred Buddhist objects; below, a band of four-lobed cartouches decorated with sacred objects on a background incised with small stylized flowers; in the lower part, a frieze of palmettes with flowers and foliage. Around the neck, a frieze of cartouches in the form of pomegranate decorated with phoenix in clouds and hearts decorated with flowers and pierced rocks.
