Map showing Brittany and Normandy published in the first French edition of the Atlas Minor by Jodocus Hondius. Shortly after the publication of the large folio atlases, the need apparently arose for a smaller, more manageable and above all less expensive atlas. The Atlas Minor had a larger format than the other small atlases available at the time, which allowed for much more detail and more place names than in those of its rivals.
