Baule mask, Ivory Coast Wood H. 35 cm Baule mask, Ivory Coast H. 13 ¾ in Provenance: - Sale Ader Picard Tajan, 27 February 1989, lot 7 - Former French private collection Portrait mask representing a human face with stylized features. Inscribed in a large oval, it is crowned with a finely chiseled bun. The eyes slit in their center surmount a long and flat nose. The circumference of the cheeks is girded with a beard. The ears are carefully carved on both sides. Finally, three circles forming a motif are engraved on the forehead. A great interiority and pure lines emerge from this portrait mask with idealized features.
