Ménétrier - Private collection The style of this reliquary figure is similar to those of the northern Obamba country. The face is surrounded by four cylindrical outgrowths, notably reducing, for those in the upper part, the size of the headdress. This is a very rare iconographic model which, to our knowledge, is only mentioned twice in specialized literature. (Chaffin, 1979, L'art Kota, pages 131 and 313) An old label affixed to the back of the piece indicates that it would have been collected between 1915 and 1919 by Mr. H. Ménétrier.
