FÉNELON. DIRECTIONS FOR THE CONSCIENCE OF A KING, composed for the instruction of Louis of France, Duke of Burgundy. The Hague, Jean Neaulme, 1747. In-8 of 16-102-[1]-1bl. pages, basane, smooth spine decorated (period binding). First separate edition. The text had first appeared in 1734 following an edition of Telemachus, under the title "Examen pour la conscience d'un Roi". It was banned by order and suppressed in almost all copies.
