LOUIS MAJORELLE (1859-1926) IN NANCY The ivy Mahogany armchair, ribbed, moulded and carved. The back simulating plant interlacing and receiving the title decoration carved in high part. The armrests moved and with the reasons in light relief. The front legs are moving and have sculpted receptions and capitals. The belt receiving the carved title decoration. Complete with its very rare original tapestry in embossed leather with the title motif treated in fruit this time. Art nouveau period. Condition and restoration of use, accidents and missing, wear and cracks to the leather parts, missing the sculpture of the belt in front. Height: 96 cm - Width: 58 cm - Depth: 50 cm Provenance: Private collection, Paris XVI.

Provenance: Estate of Monsieur Louis Thirion, furniture in the mansion built in 1923 by Gibert et Ogé, which has remained in the family ever since. Expert : Madame Amélie MARCILHAC Louis Majorelle was a French decorator and furniture designer born on September 26, 1859 in Toul and died on January 15, 1926 in Nancy at the age of 66. After the death of his father, Louis Majorelle and his brother Jules took over the family business, which specialized in the design and manufacture of furniture and ceramics. Louis Majorelle later opened his own store in Nancy and made a significant contribution to the Art Nouveau movement. Louis Majorelle's furniture designs were known for their intricate inlays and embellishments, and he was considered one of the outstanding designers of Art Nouveau furniture. Majorelle's factory, where his creations were manufactured, was located at 6, rue du Vieil-Atre in Nancy, and was designed by the famous architect Lucien Weissenburger.
