Description

Pair of rare consoles inlaid with perspective cubes, rosewood and thread quartefoils, simulated flutes in amaranth and ribboned satinwood; rectangular in shape with rounded sides, they open at the waist with three drawers, two of which are carderons, and each one has a door revealing a rack with shelves; the pilastered uprights are joined by two shelves; the feet are architectural with cavet bases. Ornamentation of chased and gilded bronze such as galleries with oves (added) and laurel rings with umbilicals. Attributed to Jean-François Oeben (apocryphal stamps). Louis XVI period (restoration of use; originally possibly with marble shelves). H : 97 - W : 85 - D : 37,5 cm
