Oval miniature painted on vellum, in the 16th century style, depicting the favourite of Queen Elizabeth I of England in bust form against a blue background. In an oval frame in white enamelled copper in Renaissance style. Inscribed on the back: "Robert Dudley / Earl of Leicester".
