Bianca BONI (Rome, 1786-1857)

The Sibyl of Cumae. Rectangular miniature painted on ivory, signed lower right "BIANCA BONI" representing the Sibyl of Cumae, after the work of Dominiquin (1581-1641) kept in the Borghese Gallery in Rome. Good condition. Around 1815-1820. In a rectangular gilded stucco frame decorated with foliage. H : 11 - W : 8,5 cm Frame: H: 14 - W: 11.5 cm FELE ON THE LEFT BORDER Literature: B. Background: Considered one of the masterpieces of the prolific career of the Italian artist, who loved to copy the great old masters, this Sibyl illustrates the virtuosity and talent of one of the two greatest miniaturists in Rome during the first half of the nineteenth century.
