Rare marionnette figurant l'Empereur Napoléon Ier.

Puppet used as a toy for children made of painted papier-mâché, coloured felt and gilded copper, representing the Emperor Napoleon in full foot in the uniform of a colonel of the Chasseurs à cheval de la Garde, with a grey coat and his bicorn in the image of his exile on the island of Saint Helena in 1815. Arms, legs and head articulated. Good general condition, missing the grand cordon of the Legion of Honor and small moth holes. Popular work of the 19th century. H. 61 cm. Related work A similar puppet is kept at the castles of Malmaison and Bois-Préau (inv. M.M.8167).
