Gino Vannelli (Montreal, Quebec, June 16, 1952) is a Canadian singer and songwriter, who has had several musical hits in the 70's and 80's, especially with his hit Black Cars. Head East is an American hard rock band from East Central Illinois. The band consisted of vocalist John Schlitt, guitarist Danny Piper, keyboardist Roger Boyd, bassist Larry Boyd and drummer Steve Huston. They met and formed the band while John, Roger and Larry were attending the University of Illinois, Steve was at Eastern Illinois University 45 miles away and Danny was not in college. Eventually, Larry and Danny left the band and were replaced by Mike Somerville (guitar) and Dan Birney (bass). The band achieved success in the Midwest during the 1970s, but fell into obscurity in the following decades on both coasts, while remaining strong in the Midwest and South. Happy Mondays is an alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. Until 1992, the band's members were vocalist Shaun Ryder, his brother Paul Ryder on bass, guitarist Mark Day (nicknamed "Moose" and "Cowhead"), keyboardist Paul Davis and drummer Gary Whelan. To these four must be added 'Bez', who, after befriending Shaun Ryder, would later join the band's performances as a dancer and percussionist. Another addition was Rowetta Satchell, who from the early nineties onwards would take over the backing vocals. The group reunited in 1999 and 2004, but of the original members only Shaun Ryder, 'Bez' and Gary Whelan remained.
