Wardrobe trunk of Queen Marie Antoinette, wife of King Louis XVI. Made of wood, with a rounded lid, reinforced and trimmed with and lined with wide wooden protection bands. With inscriptions on the lid in small brass nails " GARDE ROBE DE LA REINE N°11" (Accidents to the first letters of the word GARDE). Closing by two wrought iron key locks wrought iron, with lock covers. Bottom of the trunk restored. Transportable by two strong folding handles in wrought iron. Height: 53 cm. Length : 113 x 51 cm Wear and tear, missing leather and reinforcements, one hinge changed. Used from 1774. Related works: Travel trunk, wardrobe of Madame la Dauphine This trunk is kept at the châteaux of Versailles and Trianon, and is numbered 10. appearance, marking and dimensions similar to ours. - Trunk of the " Queen's room n° 10 ", as well as the copy " n°5 ", both passed in for sale.
