AUDENARDE Panel from the Oudenaarde Tapestry (Flanders), from the end of the 16th century (around 1580). The abjuration of Henry IV. In wool and silk. Borders with birds, plants and flowering sprays and fruit compositions in pastel tones. Beautiful freshness of colors, good condition. Restorations of maintenance, lacks the two large borders of the top and bottom. Height 235 cm - Width 235 cm.

In the foreground, an elegant man, head uncovered and hand on his heart, introduces himself to a group of young women. One of them is holding a roll of paper. In the background, a group of musicians enliven the composition, while the presence of a couple seated at the foot of a tree echoes the future union of the young protagonists. Borders with motifs of female and male figures, vases of flowers and fruit, and architectural elements. It retains its beautiful colors and original border. Tapestry from Oudenaarde (Flanders), late 17th century Technical characteristics : Wool and silk Dimensions: Height: 300cm; Width: 500cm. At the boundary between the French garden of a château, a park enriched by a fountain basin, and the forest edge of the estate, a large cruciform basin with a water jet stands out in the shade of dense trees. In the midst of a rich green undergrowth, a comical scene unfolds, pitting two raccoons against a snake, while two peacocks brighten up the decor. Polychrome flower and fruit garland border (very good condition) (minor wear and restoration).
